‘I can’t for the life of me see why’ – Merson warns Liverpool star against Bayern move

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has been warned against an Anfield departure to Bayern Munich by Paul Merson.

The Senegalese star is still a key part of Liverpool’s squad under Jurgen Klopp and has helped the Reds to a domestic cup double this season.

Milner humbled Messi, has played in almost every position and doesn’t take himself too seriously

However, reports have emerged in recent weeks that he has told the Liverpool hierarchy that he intends to leave this summer in search of a new challenge.

Bayern Munich are thought to very keen on the 30-year-old and with the player entering the final year of his contract, he could be sold this summer.

The forward reportedly wants a huge wage increase, something the German champions are willing to meet but Liverpool will only sell if they find a suitable replacement.

And former Arsenal man Merson has now questioned mane’s desire for a move to Germany, claiming he could find it hard to settle in a different league.

In his Daily Star column, Merson said: “It seems clear Sadio Mane has his heart set on a move to Bayern Munich but I can’t for the life of me see why.

“The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence and there are no guarantees that he will be as successful in Germany as he has been with Liverpool.

“Since his arrival from Southampton six years ago Liverpool have played a way that suits his game and goals could dry up in a different set up and a different league.

“It is a brave move to make if he wants a fresh challenge and is backing himself to make a success of it.

“His relationship with Klopp and the club has been so good that the club will have known about this for a while and they will have been planning to recover and renew up front.
