‘I believe you’ – Jonathan David dream could become reality amid Man Utd links

Manchester United transfer target Jonathan David has previously hinted at desiring a move to Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old frontman, who has been pivotal for LOSC Lille since his €27million signing in 2020, impressed with 26 goals and nine assists in the 2023/24 season, contributing to their top-four finish in Ligue 1. His goal-scoring prowess has not gone unnoticed, with several English clubs reportedly keen on him.

United are in desperate need of bolstering their attacking options ahead of the 2024/25 season and David has previously expressed interest in joining the Red Devils, responding "I believe you" when former PSV player Marc Degryse suggested that "Manchester United is something for you".

Despite Rasmus Hojlund's 16-goal haul for United last season, manager Erik ten Hag may be seeking a more established player to improve upon their eighth-place finish - their worst Premier League campaign in history. However, the Red Devils will have some stiff competition if they wish to acquire David's services, with a number of other clubs said to be targeting the youngster.

Chelsea are believed to be considering a bid to bring him to Stamford Bridge, which would provide Nicolas Jackson with some stiff competition upfront. David himself has not been shy about his preference, having told ex-Belgium star Marc Degryse: "I love all teams in the Premier League: Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, but also Southampton, Crystal Palace, Everton...
