'I am going to play': Tiger Woods to make comeback at Masters
Tiger Woods has confirmed he plans to play this week’s Masters, marking his return to competitive golf for the first time since a serious car accident 14 months ago.
Speaking at Tuesday’s pre-event press conference at Augusta National, the 15-time major champion said: “As of right now, I feel like I am going to play.
“I’m going to play nine more holes tomorrow. My recovery has been good. I’ve been very excited about how I’ve recovered each and every day.”
Woods, 46, won the most recent of his five Green Jackets in 2019. Asked if he believed he could win a sixth given his continued recovery from the February 2021 accident that threatened to take his right leg and kept him in hospital for three weeks, the American said: “I do”.
Woods added: “I can hit it just fine, I've got no issues with the physical part; walking is the hard part.”
The 86th Masters begins on Thursday.
