‘I always try to do it’ - Antony opens up on his trademark move at Manchester United

Antony is embracing his synonymous style of shooting at Manchester United, saying he is “always” looking to produce his trademark move whenever he can.

The winger is known for his showpiece skill which sees him drag the ball in a full circle in one motion, but fans are more accustomed to seeing his typical efforts on goal with his left foot.

The attacker is often seen cutting in from the right-hand side and unleashing an effort towards the far corner of the net with defenders oftentimes struggling to deal with his nimble footwork and movement.

“It’s something I work on a lot,” he told club media while referencing his first professional goal for Sao Paulo in March 2020, which first saw him produce his traditional striking style. “If I remember correctly it [the goal] was against Sao Caetano.

“I took a shot and it hit the defender along the way. It’s one of my trademarks and something which I always try to do.” Antony has been a bright addition to the United squad following his £85m switch from Ajax in the summer.

The club’s second-most expensive player ever has netted seven times this season, including in all of his first three Premier League appearances. He has scored in every competition this campaign, helping United win the Carabao Cup and advance through to the latter stages of the Europa League and FA Cup.

Despite succumbing to a handful of dour Premier League results prior to Wednesday's 1-0 win over Brentford, Antony feels as though the United squad are on the same page in what they want to achieve this season.
