Hythe Town manager Sammy Moore says his squad rebuild will take time

Hythe manager Sammy Moore is happy to bide his time in the transfer market.

Moore is building a new squad at Reachfields, with many players having moved on.

The likes of Jake Embery and Brad Schafer, who’ve joined Lordswood, captain Liam Smith and Aaron Barnes are among those to depart.

Jack Steventon and Oscar Webb have been retained while Moore is still hoping to keep Ethan Webb, Lex Allan and top scorer Johan Caney-Bryan.

But there’ll be a fresh look about the squad as new boss Moore looks to put his stamp on things, with goalkeeper Joe Coleman the first confirmed signing.

“We’ve got our budget and we’re working to that,” said Moore, who succeeded Steve Watt in the final weeks of the Isthmian South East season.

“We’ll try and get the best players in that we can which the budget will allow.

“We’re looking for young, exciting talent that can be competitive in this league.

“We want to be competitive in every game we play.

“We’ve got targets we’re speaking to.

“We’re not in that situation where we can throw money at players, so we have to wait for the right ones and see what comes up.

“We’re going to be patient. The squad probably won’t be done until 10 days before the season.

“That’s where we’re at but it’s exciting times.

“We’ve announced Joe Coleman and we’re speaking to three or four others.

“We’ve also signed a couple that we haven’t announced yet. That’s what we’re going to do.

“We’re not going to announce everyone. We’ll go under the radar.

“We’ve got our ambitions. We’re not publicly going to say what they are but the main thing is to be competitive.

“We’ve come in and we’re starting from scratch really.
