Hurricanes forward Jarvis replaces injured Point on Canadian men's Olympic hockey roster

Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis will replace Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brayden Point on Canada's men's hockey team at the Milan Cortina Olympics.

The Canadian Olympic Committee made the announcement Thursday, saying Point is unable to play due to an injury.

The 29-year-old centre from Calgary suffered a knee injury in Tampa Bay's 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Jan. 12.

Jarvis has 25 goals and 18 assists over 48 games with the Hurricanes this season and was part of the Canadian team that won gold at the 4 Nations Face-Off last year.

The 24-year-old Winnipeg product has 121 goals and 256 points over 352 regular-season games across his NHL career.

Jarvis is the latest addition to Canada's roster, coming after forward Sam Bennett of the Florida Panthers took the place of injured Lightning centre Anthony Cirelli.

Canada begins the tournament against Czechia on Feb. 12.
