‘Hungry’ Super Eagles ready for Guinea-Bissau showdown

Brentford midfielder, Frank Onyeka, has expressed his readiness and that of his fellow Super Eagles players for the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Guinea Bissau.

Twenty-three players are now in camp in Abuja as the Eagles intensify their preparation for Nigeria’s 2023 AFCON qualifiers against the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau.

Nigeria and Guinea Bissau clash from 5pm on Friday, 24th March, and then make it a second date at the Estadio 24 de Setembro in Bissau on Monday, 27th March, also starting from 5pm.

Ahead of the first leg at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, Onyeka spoke to the team’s media.

“We are all very well prepared for the game on Friday, we all know the importance of the match for both the players and the country.

So, we are ready and we know that all we have to do is just to win. That is the expectation for me and also for all my team-mates,” Onyeka stated.

Meanwhile, West Bromwich Albion centre-back, Oluwasemilogo Ajayi has said he and his teammates in the Super Eagles are eagerly looking forward to the top 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau on Friday and the return leg on March 27.

The Eagles have been camping at the Federal Capital Territory since last Sunday, in preparation for the encounters.

Speaking ahead of the matches, the former Arsenal academy player promised to give his best to the country, adding that they have been taking in the instructions from head coach, Jose Peseiro which they will put to use against the Djurtus.
