Hull KR's five best wins under Tony Smith derby delight and play-off joy

There's no denying that Tony Smith brought some of the best moments in Hull KR's Super League history whilst he was head coach of the Robins. Since taking over from Tim Sheens in 2019, the Australian transformed the club from relegation candidates to back-to-back semi-finalists in under three years.

As ever when a coach is sacked, there's always debate around the high and low points surrounding their tenure and what moments stood out during the coach's era.With all that said, we take a look back at Tony Smith's five most famous and influential victories during his time as head coach of Hull KR.

Smith's first victory as coach of the Robins came in June 2019 after he replaced Tim Sheens, who was sacked midway through the season. Tries from Mose Masoe and Adam Quinlan inspired Hull KR to a 16-14 victory over Warrington Wolves. Ryan Shaw kicked four goals as the Tony Smith era kicked off with a bang.

Ironically, it was Smith's successor Danny McGuire who stole the show in this memorable win. At the time, Rovers were desperate for a victory as they were fighting relegation with Wakefield, Huddersfield and London. Early tries from Dan Murray and Adam Quinlan put the Robins in front as the game ebbed and flowed throughout the contest. With the scores level at 26-all at the full-time whistle, two magic moments from McGuire won the game for the Robins. A pinpoint 40/20 saw Rovers march up the field before he slotted over the drop-goal the very next play.
