Hull FC to part ways with Josh Reynolds with dismal spell set for abrupt end

Josh Reynolds looks set to leave Hull FC, Hull Live understands. It's believed the club and the player have been in talks over an immediate release from his contract despite having five months left to run on his existing deal.

The club's players are believed to have been informed on Saturday that the Australian is preparing for his departure, with the formalities of his exit currently being worked through before the squad return to training on Sunday.

It will bring a disappointing end to his spell at the MKM Stadium for FC's marquee man. Thought to have been the club's highest-paid player in history, Reynolds has been unable to live up to that billing ever since his arrival from Wests Tigers.

He produced a dismal performance in the defeat to Catalans Dragons last time out and that is thought to have been the final straw for the club's hierarchy who have now decided to cut ties despite the season only being at the midway point.

Reynolds was not going to be offered an extension to his existing deal, despite the club having a one-year option at the end of the season. But with things clearly not working out, the club are set to cut their losses and bring an end to one of their most disappointing pieces of recruitment.

It was a signing that promised so much. Reynolds arrived with an impressive pedigree having represented New South Wales in State of Origin and having spent a decade in the NRL.
