Hull City target highly-rated US international striker

Hull City have made a move for USA international striker Haji Wright, as Shota Arveladze looks to find the goals he hopes will fire the Tigers towards promotion when the new season gets underway next month.

Wright, who was born in Los Angeles is contracted to Danish club SønderjyskE, but spent last term on loan with Turkish Super Lig side Antalyaspor and ended the season in sparkling form with his club, form which saw him called up by USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter and thrust straight into his World Cup thinking after scoring on his debut against Morocco earlier this month.

The 6''4 striker netted nine goals in the final 10 games of the domestic season, including two assists. He netted eight goals in seven successive games after hitting blistering form. In total, the youngster scored 14 goals in 31 Super Lig games.

City hope they can convince the ex-New York Cosmos striker to make a permanent move to England and spearhead a surge toward the Premier League.

In the USA's Under-17 squad, Wright bagged 27 goals in 34 appearances and played with Chelsea star Christian Pulisic, who admitted he was delighted to see his former teammate in the senior squad with him for the first time this month.

Earlier in his career, Wright played with German side Schalke between 2016 and 2020 and had a spell in Bundesliga 2 with Sandhausen as well as enduring a spell in Dutch football with VVV-Venlo. He moved to Denmark in August 2020 before his loan switch to Turkey, where he caught the eye of City's scouting network.
