Hugo Keenan fit and firing as Leinster face Racing 92 test in Champions Cup

Hugo Keenan hopes his injury problems are firmly behind him as the Leinster full-back gears up for Saturday's crunch Heineken Champions Cup opener against Racing 92.

Keenan has hit the ground running since returning from the knee and abdominal injuries that saw him miss the opening two months of the season.

The 26-year-old was propelled straight into the starting line-up by Ireland head coach Andy Farrell and barely put a foot wrong in the wins over South Africa and Australia, while he made his first Leinster appearance of the campaign in last weekend's stunning comeback against Ulster as they extended their winning streak to nine matches.

Will Connors, Ian Madigan and Malakai Fekitoa spoke to RTÉ Sport ahead of the opening round of this season's Heineken Champions Cup

"It's always frustrating being out on the sidelines, watching those first eight games, the novelty wears off pretty quick," Keenan told RTÉ Sport.

"It was a chance to get my body right. I had a few niggles after last season from the [New Zealand] tour, a few things were catching up with me.

"I was training away during that time, waiting for my body to heal. I was really trying to get back, maybe even before the internationals to get a bit of game time, but that wasn’t to be.

"It’s great to be back. I’m enjoying being involved in two great set-ups. I loved being back in the RDS at the weekend. It was a brilliant return, the atmosphere was class and there was a great turnout.

"It’s an exciting time of the season
