Huge worry: MUFC could be without "exquisite" gem vs Atleti, it would be game-changing - opinion

Manchester United will take on Atletico Madrid in the Champions League decider at Old Trafford this evening, and there is still everything to play for with a 1-1 draw in Madrid, and now it has emerged Ralf Rangnick will have some last-minute decisions to make on his team selection.

The German coach took to his pre-match press conference to deliver a huge worry for the Manchester United team in terms of Luke Shaw’s availability for the upcoming game against Diego Simeone’s side.

Rangnick told the press:

“We have all the players available for the game tomorrow. There is a small question mark behind Luke Shaw, he has been training yesterday and today, but we have to wait and see until he if he is fully fit to see if he’s available for the game.”

Shaw has been out recovering from a virus outbreak, that also affected Bruno Fernandes, but both players have been spotted in training since and it seems that despite Fernandes being fit and ready for selection, the left-back is displaying signs that he hasn’t fully recovered if the manager’s comments are anything to go by.

Losing out on the opportunity to select Shaw in the starting line-up could be game-changing for Man United as the left-back who was hailed “exquisite” by Rio Ferdinand offers unrivalled experience in his position and is arguably the best choice for the defensive line, especially when you consider that Alex Telles was poor defensively against Tottenham Hotspur in his absence last weekend.

Despite offering up an assist, Telles made up a defensive line that found life difficult holding off Spurs and struggled to hold possession with the Brazilian left-back losing the ball in every three touches he made, while losing 100% of his aerial duels according to SofaScore.
