Huge search underway in Cardigan for missing canoeist
A large search is underway in west Wales involving rescue teams and Coastguard helicopters after a canoeist was reported missing. Emergency services have been called to the Cardigan area in Ceredigion on Thursday evening.

Two Coastguard helicopters have been sent to the scene, along with lifeboats from local RNLI teams, police officers from Dyfed-Powys Police and rescue teams from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service. A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "A search is underway for a canoeist who was reported missing at just before 7.40pm. Members of the public are advised to stay away."
A spokeswoman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: "HM Coastguard is responding to reports of a person in the water in Cardigan this evening (June 6). Alerted at around 7.45pm, Coastguard rescue teams from Cardigan, Llansteffan and Moylegrove, lifeboats from Cardigan and Fishguard RNLI and the Coastguard helicopters from Caernarfon and Newquay have been sent to the scene, alongside police and fire and rescue."
