Huge football trophy made out of ice on display in city centre ahead of England Euro 2024 match this evening

A huge football trophy made entirely out of ice has been put on display in the city centre today to coincide with England’s Euro 2024 match against Slovenia this evening.

The 5ft 7" trophy, which has been sculpted by The Ice Co, will be on display today (June 25) until 5pm near Cathedral Gardens for fans wanting to get in the football spirit and take a perfect selfie alongside it thanks to a designated ring light on hand.

This evening will mark England’s last game in the group stages of the Euros 2024, which is currently taking place in Germany. England have already reached the last 16 but a victory tonight, with the game kicking off at 8pm, would see them take the top spot within Group C.

The ice sculpture, which is located next to the National Football Museum, took half a day to complete, and features a ribbon and even an embedded bag of party ice inside to ensure it is the ‘coolest’ trophy going around.

Lucy Redman, Marketing Manager at The Ice Co, said: “With football fever sweeping the nation, we wanted to give the people of Manchester a chance to pose alongside our incredible, life-sized ice trophy.

“Positioned just outside the National Football Museum in Cathedral Gardens, the ice sculpture trophy took half a day to create and even features a bag of The Ice Co’s Party Ice, floating inside.

“It’s been fantastic to see so many people stop by and have their photo taken on what’s been the hottest day of the year so far! The activation is part of our Moments Made N(ice)r campaign, a celebration of the nation’s biggest summer occasions.”
