Huge blow: Celtic dealt fresh injury setback ahead of Dons, Postecoglou will be gutted - opinion

Celtic have been dealt an injury blow regarding Yosuke Ideguchi ahead of their upcoming Premiership fixture.

That’s according to a claim made by John McGinley, with the journalist revealing in a post on Twitter that, despite the central midfielder returning to first-team training this week, the 25-year-old will not be available for the trip to Aberdeen tomorrow evening.

In his tweet, McGinley said: “Yosuke Ideguchi has returned to training but won’t be ready for Wednesday night. Should be ready for the weekend.”

Considering the fact that, since his move to Parkhead in the January transfer window, Ideguchi has played just 16 minutes of Premiership football, the news that the Japan international will once again be unavailable for selection on Wednesday evening is sure to have left Postecoglou gutted.

Indeed, with Callum McGregor currently playing with two broken bones in his face, as well as David Turnbull being sidelined with a hamstring injury, the continued absence of the £810k-rated Ideguchi will undoubtedly come as a huge blow to the 56-year-old Bhoys boss.

Considering his side’s issues with injuries so far this season, he would certainly appreciate the opportunity to rest his walking-wounded club captain sooner rather than later.

However, the Greek-Australian and his side will have to make do without the services of the Japanese midfielder for the trip to Pittodrie tomorrow, a fixture in which Postecoglou will be hoping that his Bhoys side can continue their remarkable run of recent league form – 19 games without defeat – with yet another dominating display and result against a struggling Dons outfit.
