Huddersfield Town 0-0 Swansea City: Dominant Swans unable to clinch victory ahead of World Cup break

Swansea City were unable to turn a dominant display into victory as they had to settle for a goalless draw with Huddersfield Town.

The Swans bossed proceedings at The John Smith's Stadium and saw the likes of Joel Piroe, Ryan Manning, Olivier Ntcham, Joel Latibeaudiere and Michael Obafemi all have chances to bulge the net.

But the visitors couldn't find the goal their efforts warranted as their winless run was extended to five matches ahead of the month-long World Cup break, although they remain well-placed to attack the Championship's top six from December onwards.

Russell Martin made just one change from Tuesday night's 2-2 draw with Birmingham City as Ollie Cooper - fresh from his call-up to Wales' World Cup standby list - came in for Luke Cundle who dropped to the bench.

Having started slowly too often of late, the Swans played on the front foot from kick-off in the glorious west Yorkshire sunshine, although their domination of the ball wasn't converted into goal-scoring chances early on.

They remained patient and asked more questions of the Terriers as the game progressed, with Piroe's driven effort being parried by Lee Nicholls before Harry Darling could only guide his shot wide from the resulting corner.

Ntcham then had a shot blocked by Tom Lees after being picked out by Latibeaudiere as Jay Fulton's flicked header was straight at Nicholls as the traffic remained completely one way.

Latibeaudiere himself went agonisingly close to netting as his looping header from Matt Grimes' cross was tipped behind by Nicholls before Manning tested the goalkeeper from out wide soon after.
