How will the World Cup affect the 2022/23 Premier League Season?

Football fans are getting excited about the World Cup and we have all the details around how this 2022 World Cup in Qatar will affect the 2022/23 Premier League season.

With COVID-19 causing the 2021/22 season to be full of postponements and mid-game fixtures, there is a lot of worry about whether a huge international tournament will cause a similar issue.

We are having a winter World Cup tournament for the first time due to Qatar being too hot during the months of June and July (when the tournament is normally hosted).

It will very interesting to see how the tournament plays out being in the middle of the Premier League season and whether it will affect the form of clubs in England.

For those who do not know, the 2022 World Cup will start on Monday 21st November 2022 and it will end on Sunday 18th December 2022.

The 2022/23 Premier League will begin on Saturday 6th August and it ends on Sunday 28th May 2023, therefore, we will be four months into the season before the 2022 World Cup begins.

For those wondering, the 2022 Qatar World Cup will affect the Premier League season and there will be a mid-season break during the 2022/23 Premier League campaign. This is due to the fact that a lot of footballers from Premier League clubs will be involved in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Some great players, like Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland, will not be at the tournament as their countries (Egypt and Norway) failed to qualify for the World Cup. This could be ideal for some players so that they can rest up for the second half of the season.
