'How on earth' - Sky Sports man shocked by 'staggering' Leeds decision

Leeds United have been slammed by Sky Sports reporter Jamie Weir on Twitter following the injury to Robin Koch on Sunday. 

The Whites ace suffered a heavy clash of the heads with Scott McTominay at Elland Road at the weekend, which saw the German’s head immediately cut open.

And after receiving attention by the Leeds medical staff and changing both his shirt and shorts, the 25-year-old was allowed to continue the game with his head bandaged up.

Koch was then taken off after 31 minutes – 18 minutes after initially sustaining the injury – with Junior Firpo replacing him.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side take to the pitch again on Wednesday night at Anfield and the Sky Sports reporter was clearly left far from impressed by the actions taken on Sunday at Elland Road:

“I’m sorry, but Leeds’ medical team have some questions to answer. How on earth Robin Koch was allowed to play for another fifteen minutes when clearly concussed is just staggering. Highly irresponsible and negligent,” he said on Twitter.

TIF Thoughts on Koch’s injury…

We were really surprised to see Koch continue the game given the severity of the impact with the Manchester United ace which caused an immediate cut to his head.

It was interesting that the West Yorkshire side did not use their permitted concussion substitution and ultimately allowed their player, who was clearly not right after the collision, back onto the pitch for nearly 20 minutes before he was replaced.

As per reporter Graham Smyth, the cut to the German’s head is what eventually saw him taken off, with the club stating that he had passed all necessary checks prior to returning to the field of play.

However, with a game against Liverpool on Wednesday, it seems unlikely he will feature, as the club also
