How Manchester United should line up vs Tottenham in Premier League fixture

Manchester United are hoping to win two games in the space of a week when taking on Tottenham on Sunday.

United claimed a comfortable 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup on Monday night and they return to Premier League action this weekend by welcoming Ange Postecoglou's side to Old Trafford.

The game will be important regarding United's top four hopes because they are currently eight points behind Spurs, who occupy fifth position after a promising first half of the season with Postecoglou in charge.

Regarding the team news, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Antony and Amad are all in contention to return to the matchday squad.

So here's how our writers think United should start...

Samuel Luckhurst

Newport or Eastleigh is probably the day for Martinez to come back into the XI. For this weekend, United would be sensible in sticking with Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane. Luke Shaw has to go back into the back four at the expense of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr are both at the Africa Cup of Nations, so it has to be Christian Eriksen over Scott McTominay next to the indispensable Kobbie Mainoo. The attack should remain the same, though United need a performance from Marcus Rashford.

Tyrone Marshall

At his pre-match press conference Ten Hag suggested Martinez, Shaw and Casemiro were back but then said they weren't probably back, so it's not clear who is fit and who isn't. It's probably too soon for the two long-term absences, but Shaw should be able to start again fairly quickly and he can return. Martinez and Casemiro might be fit enough for the bench.
