How long you'll have to wait before you retire
It's no secret that people nowadays have to wait longer before they can retire.
Currently, the state pension age (the earliest you can begin claiming the state pension) is 66. However, this will rise to 67 by 2028 and 68 by 2046.
The increase in pension age has been justified by a rise in life expectancy and expected rises in the future. A review in 2017 argued the retirement age should be increased to 68 by 2039.
