How is Kion Etete getting on away from Tottenham at Cheltenham?

After joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2019, Kion Etete slowly worked his way through the youth ranks at Spurs.

Having featured for their under-18’s and 23’s in previous seasons, this year, the club decided it was time he got another taste of first team men’s football.

In the first half of the season, Etete was sent on loan to League Two side Northampton Town, where he impressed for the Cobblers, scoring six goals and getting 2 assists in 23 matches for the midlands club.

So much so, that in January, Tottenham re-called the youngster and decided he must play the remainder of the season at a higher level.

As a result, Etete finds himself on loan at Cheltenham Town for the remainder of the campaign, but how is he getting on so far?

Well, so far, Etete has made 8 appearances for the Robins, scoring twice and assisting three times in his short spell in Cheltenham so far.

This is quite an impressive tally for the young striker given the step up in level he has made from League Two to League One.

Speaking after a 4-0 win earlier this month against Doncaster Rovers, Cheltenham boss Michael Duff was full of praise for the 20-year-old.

“Kion has to take a lot of the praise too because he’s becoming a very good foil for Alfie during this glut of goals.” Duff said in an interview with the Football League paper.

“He gets booted and kicked and needs a new shirt every week because it’s been ripped off his back.

“We watched Kion in League Two, where he did well during the first half of the season, and now he’s come here and done well too.”

High praise, indeed, from the manager.

Although he has recently suffered a small setback with injury, Kion Etete looks to have settled in extremely well in League One and at Cheltenham Town.
