How is ex-Reading FC player Orlando Sa getting on these days?

Orlando Sa was Reading’s first signing of the summer 2015 transfer window, a rebuilding phase for the Royals with the Thai ownership giving their full backing to Steve Clarke.

He was joined by the likes of Paul McShane, Lucas Piazon, Ola John and Matej Vydra at what was known as the Madejski Stadium during that window – and it looked as though the forward would be an extremely successful addition.

Sa missed a penalty on his league debut against Birmingham City, failing to claim what would have been a positive point on the opening day of the season at St Andrew’s.

Two games later though, he supplied an assist at Sheffield Wednesday and towards the end of August, that’s when he started getting in and amongst the goals.

Setting the Royals on the right course against Brentford with his opening goal, he entered the international break with some real momentum and that proved to be the catalyst for his mid-September hat-trick against Ipswich Town, performing extremely well on the night alongside Vydra.

The following game was arguably the turning point in his spell in Berkshire though, being sent off unnecessarily against Derby County and although he did score against Fulham after that, he was rarely seen from December 2015.

The following month, he left for Israeli outfit Maccabi Tel Aviv on a permanent basis, but his stay there was brief as he made the move to Belgium and signed for Standard Liege that summer.

He enjoyed the most fruitful spell of his career in Liege, recording 32 goals in 88 assists during two spells at the club as he joined Chinese side Henan Jianye for a very brief period in between.
