How every five-star men's college basketball recruit fits with their new programs - ESPN

No. 1 Tyran Stokes is headed to Kansas, with his decision representing the last commitment of the 20 five-star recruits atop the 2026 SC Next 100 rankings.

Background: Stokes has been considered the best player in the 2026 class for most of his high school career, landing a handful of high-major offers before his freshman year at Prolific Prep (Calif.) even tipped — then officially taking over the No. 1 spot when AJ Dybantsa reclassified up to 2025. There were rumors Stokes could also reclassify last spring, but he opted to remain for another year of high school.

In early November, he narrowed his list of finalists to Kentucky, Kansas and Oregon — then left his high school four days later. After initial talk of enrolling in college at the semester break, Stokes let the early signing period come and go without a commitment, and landed at Rainier Beach High School in Washington. The contenders for his commitment didn't change, however. Kentucky emerged as the early favorite in the fall, then Kansas moved into pole position during the college season, and the two have been fighting over the final few weeks for his commitment. A visit to Kentucky in mid-April didn't produce a decision, leaving everyone in Lexington and Lawrence waiting, until now.
