How Antony compares to Cristiano Ronaldo and two other Manchester United forwards

Erik ten Hag wants to bolster Manchester United's attacking options this summer — and he knows the perfect player to do so.

Antony has been on the Dutchman's radar during this transfer window and when you look at the statistics, it's clear why United are interested. Ten Hag has openly admitted the importance of strengthening his forward line and with the news that Antony's representative have reportedly landed in Manchester for talks, the Ajax winger could well be on his way to Old Trafford.

The Brazilian has attracted interest from United partly because of the admiration from his former manager, but also due to his scintillating form in the Eredivisie. He is a naturally entertaining player to watch and is full of classical Brazilian flair that allows him to utilise his natural pace and dribbling ability to beat his man.

But how does Antony compare to United's current crop of attacking players: Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho? We look at their statistics from last season's Premier League and Eredivisie campaigns:

Goals

Ronaldo's goal tally of 18 goals during the 2021/22 Premier League campaign cannot be beaten; Antony only managed eight in comparison. That is, however, more than both Rashford and Sancho combined who scored four and three last season respectively. Noticeably, Antony also played 168 fewer minutes than Sancho last season while still returning a higher goal output than the former Borussia Dortmund player.

Antony comes out top here too — although only just. His four assists see him come ahead of both Roanldo and Sancho who provided three each last season, with Rashford only
