Hollyoaks throuple romance confirmed - and it's not good news for Cleo McQueen

Hollyoaks is teasing a sensational new plot twist with the suggestion that an open relationship could be on the cards for some of its characters.

In the latest developments, Abe Fielding, played by Tyler Conti, didn't return to the new flat he shares with Cleo McQueen, portrayed by Nadine Mulkerrin, after their recent disagreement. However, the two unexpectedly crossed paths in the village during the first-look episode on Thursday (August 1), now available on Channel 4's streaming service.

Cleo encountered her boyfriend and implored him to give her a chance to show they can still be the lively couple he desires.

When John Paul McQueen, acted by James Sutton, saw them together, he enquired about their first night in the new flat, leading them to fabricate a story about spending the evening together.

The couple later decide to host a housewarming party, but a game of 'Never have I ever' leads to an uncomfortable moment for Cleo when John Paul labels them as "boring", reports the Mirror.

Eager not to be seen as dull, Cleo reluctantly agrees to the idea of an open relationship with Abe. Yet, after confiding in Kitty Draper, played by Iz Hesketh, at The Loft about her true feelings, Kitty advises her to be honest with Abe.

However, Cleo's resolve is tested when she overhears Abe with Theresa McQueen, played by Jorgie Porter, which causes her distress and leads to her making herself sick.

Actress Jorgie Porter previously described the on-screen dynamics to the press, saying: "There's a love triangle scenario and a kind throuple situation. Apparently that's quite a cool thing now isn't it and people are kind of into that kind of thing."

"It's weird, it's awkward and you're not spit swapping per say but you are kissing each
