Holiday boost as Spain relaxes travel rule making it easier for families with children to visit

Spain is set to ease its travel rules further which will make it easier for families with children to visit the country.

Currently UK travellers need to be fully vaccinated to enter Spain, but this has caused issues for those with children aged 12-17 who haven’t been fully jabbed as they are not allowed entry into the country.

From Monday Spain will lift the restrictions on teenagers, who will be able to travel to Spain if they present negative PCR test within 72 hours of arrival, the country’s Secretary of State for tourism Fernando Valdés told the BBC.

The news comes after many families have already cancelled their half term holidays to popular destinations in Spain and the Canary Islands as their children have not yet had their second jab, The Mirror reports.

Spain will still require everyone aged 18 and over to prove they’ve had both jabs to enter the country.

With the UK's latest travel changes, the country has become one of the holiday destinations Brits can visit without any Covid tests.

It's also worth noting that Spain recently changed its rules around vaccination requirements, in line with other EU countries including France.

This means that to be considered double jabbed, your vaccination course needs to have been completed within 270 days - approximately nine months - before you travel.

If your jabs were earlier than this, then you'll be required to have a booster to qualify as 'fully vaccinated'.

Meanwhile, there continue to be local Covid rules in place throughout Spain. Currently face masks remain mandatory in outdoor spaces but these rules are set to be relaxed in time for the peak half term season.
