Historic Greater Manchester pub to open winter tavern away from Christmas Markets with open fires and festive cabins

It's that time of year again when the evenings draw in, the nights feel particularly long, and we're all looking some respite from the elements. Fortunately, a Greater Manchester pub is reviving its popular outdoor tavern - and there's even an open fire to keep you warm.

The historic Black Friar pub in Salford is turning its spacious beer garden and garden bar area into a ‘medieval winter tavern’ for the festive season. The décor will boast glittering candles, real fires and furs, and new for this year, cosy winter cabins which can seat up to eight people.

From, Thursday, 9 November, guests can stave away the chill of Manchester nights in the majestic Winter Tavern, with 'fires, frolics and feasting' on The Black Friar’s new Christmas menu. There will be an á la carte and festive dining menu as well as handcrafted cocktails - all of which is a recipe for a traditional knees up.

Neil Burke, Owner and Operator of The Black Friar, said: “We are thrilled to unveil our Christmas Menus and Winter Tavern for the festive period. After months of meticulous planning, we are overjoyed with the result and eagerly anticipate the joyous celebrations we will host over this year’s Christmas season."

New to the Black Friar’s festive event this year are the Winter Cabins, which are decked out with murals from artist Melissa Hartley. Groups of up to eight will have the opportunity to reserve these outdoor, heated winter huts - handmade by Pod Folks and in partnership with Estrella Damm.
