His victims have never been found, but in a corner of Rochdale an Irish mobster lies under an extravagant headstone

The couple he is suspected of murdering remain missing and buried in an unmarked grave.

But mobster Cornelius Price's Rochdale resting place is now adorned with an extravagant headstone and ornaments. The Irish gangster, who was heavily involved in organised crime and is suspected of at least four murders including the killings of Willie Maughan and his pregnant partner Ana Varslavane, died on February 19, 2023 two years after he contracted a brain disease.

Price was buried in Rochdale Cemetery in a secret ceremony two years ago. It's thought he'd fled to the UK, where he had family links in Rochdale and Manchester, sometime in 2020 after a gangland feud in Drogheda, County Louth, had grown increasingly violent.

His grave was covered in lavish floral tributes in which he was described as a 'legend', 'golden balls', and 'king', as well as colourful wreaths depicting boxing gloves and vehicles.

But until recently, his grave had remained without a headstone. Now, ahead of the second anniversary of Price's death – also known as 'Nailyboy' – we can reveal images of the gang boss's extravagant headstone and grave statuettes, including large stone lurcher dogs as well as a large stone hare.

Price's face is engraved in a large stone shaped as a love heart that is placed in the middle of the grave, while the wording 'Our warrior, Simply the Best' is engraved in gold coloured paint at the foot of the grave kerb. Images of Price flexing his muscles in front of a large stairway are engraved on two large stones at the base of the grave, while large bunches of flowers also adorn the grave.

The stricken gang boss, 41 – who was behind much of the chaos in the lethal Drogheda feud that claimed four lives – is suspected of murdering
