"His biggest disappointment" – Journalist drops Daniel Levy claim involving former Tottenham ace

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy was disappointed that ‘most of the fans’ didn’t get to see Gareth Bale play last term, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Bale is a fans’ favourite at Spurs following his previous exploits for the club and returned on a season-long loan in 2020/21, although the coronavirus pandemic meant he largely played in empty stadiums.

A report in Spanish outlet Nacional back in February claimed that the 32-year-old will finally depart Real Madrid on a permanent basis when his current contract expires over the summer.

It goes on to state that the Los Blancos hierarchy will be glad to see Bale depart after becoming ‘fed up’ with him and that a third spell at Tottenham awaits.

Nacional claim that the Wales international will sign one last deal before retiring and that Spurs wanted to retain his services following the conclusion of his loan spell but an agreement over his transfer fee couldn’t be reached.

And it’s perhaps little surprise that Bale is reportedly attracting the attention of the north London outfit once again after showing he still possesses top-class ability last season.

In 34 appearances across all competitions, the pacey attacker registered 16 goals and three assists for Tottenham, helping to fire them to the League Cup final.

However, the outbreak of Covid-19 meant only a select few of the club’s supporters got to witness Bale in action seven years after he first departed north London.
