High-profile Everton ace tipped for exit if club get relegated
Everton midfielder Allan ‘wouldn’t want to be playing in the Championship’ next season, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The Toffees are facing the distinct possibility of playing in the second tier of English football for the first time since 1953/54 if new manager Frank Lampard can’t turn their prospects around.
At present, Everton are sitting just one place and three points above the relegation zone after picking up only 25 points from their 27 Premier League games this season.
Former manager Rafa Benitez was sacked after just six-and-a-half months in the Goodison Park hot seat following a run of one victory in 13 top-flight fixtures.
Lampard – who was dubbed ‘the professor’ by Allan – was announced as his successor on deadline day in January, but his arrival has so far failed to spark a significant upturn in results and performances.
In his seven league games at the helm, Lampard’s charges have won on just two occasions, losing the other five to leave them in a precarious position, although their games in hand will be of some comfort.
Everton’s demise has seen several of their top stars linked with moves away ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, and Allan could be one who walks out the exit door.
The Brazil international arrived from Napoli in a £21.7 million deal back in September 2020 and has made 52 appearances for the Merseyside outfit across all competitions.

However, O’Rourke doesn’t believe Allan would be keen to stay at the club if they lost their Premier League status.
