'Help me!': Man's desperate screams heard after he's driven at and 'pinned against garden gate'

Screams and shouts of 'help me' were heard after a man was left with life-changing injuries when he was allegedly driven at and 'pinned against a garden gate'.

It happened on Trust Road in Gorton, east Manchester, at around 1:20am this morning (Thursday, July 6). Police say they were called to reports of a collision and found a man seriously injured.

He was taken to hospital and his injuries have been described as 'life-changing' but they are not believed to be life-threatening. A 35-year-old woman has been arrested, GMP say.

A Volkswagen car could be seen inside the cordon with damage to its front end and offside with debris and broken glass also visible. Specialist forensic crime scene investigation (CSI) officers and plain clothes detectives were both at the scene this morning carrying out enquiries.

Some of those living nearby reported hearing a 'bang', loud screams and shouts of 'help me' around the time of the incident.

One man said he found this morning that his gate had been left 'mangled.' "We just heard screaming, it sounded like a lad," he said.

“We looked out and couldn’t see anyone. But the blue lights were starting to go. Police or ambulances, or both, came. We just thought
