Helmut Marko: Red Bull are dominating 2022 season

Helmut Marko has said that Red Bull are dominating the 2022 season at the moment, and it is hard to argue with that summary.

The Milton Keynes-based team have got a lot right on the track so far this year, with them putting their early reliability issues behind them in the main, barring the issue in Montreal for Sergio Perez last time out.

Indeed, they look like the team that has nailed the new regulations best out of the entire field, and that is made more impressive given how much time and resource was put into battling for both championships in 2021.

They’re on a hot streak at the moment, too, with Verstappen extending the team’s run of wins to six last weekend in Montreal, and right now it’s hard to see who is going to stop them winning the Constructors’ crown.

Of course, reliability will potentially play a part in the weeks ahead with both Red Bull and Ferrari showing that they are not bulletproof just yet, but Marko believes their start to the season has to amount to domination and nothing more:

“The main thing is you have to finish and avoid those reliability things,” Marko said speaking to Autosport.

“We also had a Sprint race, which helped us a lot to get more points.

“We have an unbelievable run now, normally in the first half of the season we were always catching up and now are dominating.

“You have to say that if you win seven races out of the first nine, that is domination.”

Indeed, it is hard to argue with Marko and with what Red Bull are doing as a team, with them stretching their legs out in front whilst Ferrari have suffered regular issues in recent weeks.
