Heavy snow closes schools and blocks roads in Wales - live updates
Heavy snow blocked lanes after it arrived earlier and deeper than forecast. Snow began falling over parts of Wales on Monday causing havoc on the roads, with both the A55 and A483 closed at one point.
There were also closures on the A44 in Powys as the road was deemed impassable. In the south heavy rain fell with a flood warning in place on the River Ely near Cardiff. There has also been snow falling in the Valleys, Cardiff and Newport on Tuesday morning.
The snow led to treacherous driving conditions with major incidents on key trunk roads and several smaller routes in north Wales. A Met Office weather warning came into force at 7pm on Monday, and remains in place until 10am on Tuesday.
