Health woes mount for Harvey Weinstein as he faces leukaemia diagnosis and fresh charges
Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood mogul recently indicted on new charges, is reportedly battling a serious illness. According to sources who spoke to NBC News, Weinstein has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia.
This revelation comes in the wake of the explosive #MeToo movement, which was sparked by allegations of sexual misconduct against him. Insiders have told NBC News that the former film producer is currently receiving treatment at Rikers Island prison in New York.
The National Cancer Institute describes this type of cancer as one where "type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes a large number of abnormal blood cells."

Craig Rothfeld, Weinstein's legal healthcare representative, stated: "Out of respect for Mr. Weinstein's privacy, we will offer no further comment."
Weinstein, 72, has previously been hospitalised with COVID-19 and double pneumonia while awaiting retrial. He is also said to be battling 'a myriad of health conditions' following recent hospitalisation, reports the Mirror US.
In addition to his current health struggles, Weinstein underwent heart surgery in September to remove fluid from his lungs and heart, as reported by NBC News. Prior to this, he was hospitalised in July after testing positive for Covid-19 and double pneumonia.
These health issues have arisen amidst Weinstein's ongoing legal battle with Manhattan prosecutors, who are attempting to combine his 2020 sexual crimes with a new criminal indictment for trial.
