He told his parents he was feeling 'under the weather' - days later he died

A young man who told his parents 'not to worry' when he was feeling 'under the weather' died just days later.

Lucas Martin, 21, was a recent graduate of the University of Liverpool and had returned home to the Isle of Man to work over the summer. While dad Brett and mum Nicola were away on a trip to the Midlands, they received a phone call from him telling them he had a 'bit of a cold'. But when a friend checked on him they found him 'delirious' and he was rushed to hospital, where he later died.

His parents have now paid tribute to their youngest son, describing him as a 'force of nature' and saying their grief is 'biblical in proportions,' reports the Liverpool Echo.

Speaking to the ECHO, Brett said: “Lucas was the youngest of our three sons. He was a real force of nature. He had laid of enthusiasm and determination to do well.

“He was captain of the school football team, the rugby team and the cricket team. He was a born captain. He spent three years at the University of Liverpool. He had a great time. He seemed destined for great things."

Lucas did a number of jobs over the summer to keep him busy, including working for his uncle’s car business and selling reusable water bottles. In September last year, Brett and Nicola were away in the Midlands when they received a phone call from Lucas, who had stayed at home.

Brett said: “Lucas had been feeling a bit under the weather, bit of a cold he said. We were talking to him in the morning. He said, ‘I’m going back to bed, don't worry about it.’”

They asked a friend to check on Lucas just in case - and were devastated to hear what had happened to him.
