'He talks too much' - Wayne Rooney airs Gary Neville frustrations in Man United captain talk

Wayne Rooney says Gary Neville was a 'very good' leader for Manchester United but is often frustrated by his former captain.

Having spent seven years together as teammates at Old Trafford, the two United legends were also colleagues for the England national team.

Rooney was awarded the captain's armband for club and country during his stellar career.

However, while he played with the great and good during his record-breaking spell at United, it was for the Three Lions that he featured under his blueprint leader - a familiar foe to those with Old Trafford connections.

Rooney told LADbible: "The best leader? It depends. Everyone's different. I didn't play that long with Roy Keane.

"Then we had [Nemanja] Vidic as captain. Gary Neville as captain. I don't know, there were so many different leaders in that team. Steven Gerrard was really good at England. Very determined. He was quiet, but a lot of determination.

"You could see what it meant to him. Gary Neville was good, very good, but frustrating as well.

"A lot of the stuff he does frustrates me, but he was a good leader."

When asked for an example, Rooney replied: "He talks too much, basically. He talks too much and rubs his nose in a lot of different subjects in that I don't think he's got any involvement in."
