'He's very, very lucky' - Kris Boyd rips into referee decision which cost Rangers 3 points

Kris Boyd has ripped into the decision by Nick Walsh to give Jack Baldwin just a yellow for an early challenge on Glasgow Rangers left-back Borna Barisic.

After an early goal on his Teddy Bears debut for Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo, Ross County found themselves fired up.

Jake Vokins was booked for a foul on just the seventh minute, while Baldwin was also cautioned just seven minutes later for what looked like a high and dangerous boot on Barisic.

Boyd was asked to give his analysis of Baldwin’s challenge at half-time, and it is safe to say that the former Ibrox star was not happy at all.

Speaking live on Sky Sports (13:23pm) when asked if Baldwin’s challenge could have been a red card instead, Boyd claimed:

“All day long, he’s out of control.

“He’s not in control of what he’s doing there, and it is a straight-legger.

“He’s very, very lucky.”

Baldwin’s foot was high on Barisic, and he was nowhere near the ball, so the central defender is indeed lucky that he was only booked for the challenge.

Unfortunately for the Light Blues, the decision seems to have cost them as well. They were behind by half-time thanks to Jordan White and Regan Charles-Cook capitalising on some sloppy defending, and although they managed to pull the score back their way in the second half, the hosts nicked a point in stoppage time.

Walsh’s error in the first half further enhances the debate over whether VAR should be introduced in the SPFL, and you could certainly make a pretty good guess as to what Giovanni van Bronckhorst will have to say about that after today.
