“He’s been a real bright spark” – Charlton Athletic fan pundit names his Addicks player of the season

Charlton’s season this year has been fairly average and as the campaign is about to come to a close, they find themselves sitting 12th in the league.

The Addicks started this season under the management of Nigel Adkins who was dismissed in October and since then Johnnie Jackson has continued his role of caretaker manager to become the permanent manager.

As we approach the summer transfer window there is no doubt that Jackson will be looking to add to his side to allow them to push further up the table next season, whilst also retaining his most valuable players and with that in mind, we asked FLW’s Charlton fan pundit Ben Fleming who he would name as Charlton’s player of the season: “Player of the season undoubtedly George Dobson.

“Sort of in and out the side under Adkins, came in from Sunderland and they didn’t really think too much of him but under Jackson he’s been the first name on the teamsheet for basically the entirety of the season.

“He’s that base in midfield, he’s broken up the play fantastically. I think his range of passing is often underrated. I think people see him as a tough tackling midfielder but I think he’s got a bit of playmaking ability from the base.

“He’s been a real bright spark in what’s been a pretty average season and he is someone that is really going to make up the core of the team next year if we’re going to look to make a bid for the play-offs.”
