"He'll fix that pretty sharply" – Journalist drops big Jesse Marsch claim after first Leeds loss

Jesse Marsch will fix Leeds‘ defensive issues “pretty sharply” according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Leeds have conceded the most goals in the Premier League this season, which has left them just a couple of points above the relegation-zone.

Therefore, Marsch, who replaced Marcelo Bielsa in the Elland Road dugout last Sunday, has his work cut out if he wants to keep the Yorkshire giants in the top-flight.

The American made a losing start to life as Leeds manager after his side were beaten at Leicester on Saturday.

The 1-0 defeat was their fifth on the bounce, although the defensive improvements were clear to see, with Leeds conceding less than twice in a match for only the second time in their last 14 games.

Harvey Barnes’ second half goal proved the difference, but Leeds conceded just seven shots throughout the game and should have at worst avoided defeat had it not been for some poor finishing, with Raphinha notably missing a glorious chance from point-blank range.

But it was another defeat for Marsch’s side, who’ve now shipped 61 goals, three more than Norwich and an incredible 25 more than Burnley, who occupy the final relegation place.

Regardless, Jones is confident that Marsch can solve some of their defensive issues.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out that Leeds have been way too open defensively, so he’ll fix that pretty sharply.”
