"He knows Arsenal are still keen" - Transfer insider drops exciting update on 72-goal striker

Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez is tempted to “make a change in his career” with Arsenal still “keen” on his services, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Mikel Arteta is in desperate need of two strikers this summer with both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah out of contract and his team have been linked with the £63m-rated Argentina international.

Arsenal might be just one victory away from returning to the Champions League following a five season absence, but Arteta could start pre-season with no senior strikers in his squad.

Despite Nketiah ending the campaign in excellent goalscoring form, the England Under-21 ace is still expected to leave this summer, as is Lacazette, who’s scored just four Premier League goals all season.

Therefore, with a place in Europe’s elite competition within touching distance, the Gunners have ‘renewed their interest‘ in Martinez after missing out on signing him last year.

The report says that Arteta wants to sign two strikers in the summer window, with Gabriel Jesus and Dominic Calvert-Lewin also on the Spaniard’s wish-list.

Arsenal face stiff competition from Tottenham, who did match Inter’s asking-price last season even though he signed a new deal at San Siro, but he would cost the fourth-place Gunners around £60-70 million.

However, Martinez wants to sign for a club playing in the Champions League, which would give the red half of north London the advantage providing they secure a top four place.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Lautaro remains interested in the idea of a move to the Premier League, but he is not going to rush this decision.

“He knows Arsenal are still keen and from what I’m told there is a part of him that is very tempted to make a change in his career.”
