‘He had enough!’ – Owen Hargreaves says Cristiano Ronaldo was livid during Manchester United’s defeat to Everton

Cristiano Ronaldo had ‘had enough’ during Manchester United’s dismal Premier League defeat to relegation-battlers Everton, according to Owen Hargreaves.

Anthony Gordon’s first-half goal helped Frank Lampard’s Everton clinch a crucial victory over a lacklustre United at Goodison Park on Saturday.

Everton were just one point above the drop zone going into the fixture following a midweek defeat to relegation rivals Burnley, but now have some breathing space.

For Manchester United, it is a ninth league defeat of the season and sees them fail to close the gap on top-four rivals Tottenham and Arsenal, who have games in hand.

Hargreaves blasted United’s performance at Everton and said Ronaldo looked fed up with his teammates as they slipped to another demoralising defeat.

Asked what went wrong for Manchester United at Goodison Park, Hargreaves told Premier League productions: ‘What went right? A lot went wrong. What did they do right?

‘The effort isn’t there, their passing was poor, they didn’t have barely any shots on target. I don’t think they did much.

‘There’s a top-four place at stake here. Look, Anthony Gordon played like it meant everything to him. Everton could go down, but United could be in the Champions League where they all want to be.

‘Their names suggest that’s where they should be. But it didn’t feel like they thought it was must-win. You want them to put in a performance but we didn’t see it.

‘There was no real quality. Look at Cristiano Ronaldo during that game, he had had enough. He got no service. He got nothing to him.

‘There’s so many good players out there but really you’d expect way, way more from Manchester United.’
