“He’d be a fantastic signing” – Wolves weighing up Blackburn Rovers transfer swoop: The verdict

Wolves have enquired about Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz, sources have exclusively informed Football League World.

The 23-year-old is in the final year of his contract with the Championship club and the Molineux outfit have now joined the race for him following the recent injury to Raul Jimenez, who faces at least a month out.

The extent of Raul Jimenez’s injury is currently unclear, but with the 31-year-old out of action it makes a lot of sense for Wolves to make a move for Brereton Diaz.

The Chile international would be a good fit for Bruno Lage’s side and is a natural successor to Jimenez in the team.

The Wolves striker has struggled with fitness since his gruesome head injury in November 2020, and with no adequate replacement in the squad a new addition to the team is a must.

Brereton Diaz is ready for the step up to the Premier League having excelled in the Championship last season, scoring an impressive 22 times.

He is such a crucial player for Blackburn that it could be an expensive transfer sum, even with only 12 months remaining on his Ewood Park deal.

It could cost up to £20 million for Wolves to pry the forward away from Blackburn, but that could be worth it to find the man who could be the future of the team’s forward line.

I see plenty of similarities between Brereton Diaz and Jimenez so signing the Chile international as cover for the striker would make a lot of sense for Wolves.
