Hayes magic inspires Limerick to comfortable Leeside victory

Limerick began their bid for three-in-a-row in style with a comprehensive 2-25 to 1-17 win over Cork in the opening round of the Munster SHC at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

The Rebels made the perfect start when Shane Kingston goaled at the very start of the game through Shane Kingston, but Kyle Hayes had the travelling fans on their feet when he raised a green flag with a wonderful individual effort.

Aaron Gillane profited from a Limerick turnover in a dangerous position to help propel the Treaty men to a four-point interval lead, 2-9 to 1-8.

Try as they might, Kieran Kingston's side couldn't reduce the gap and indeed it was the visitors, full of invention and work-rate, that pulled away to coast to an 11-point win.
