'Has the wow factor' - Transfer insider namedrops 25 y/o as Wolves' dream signing

Dean Jones thinks Goncalo Guedes would be a dream signing for Wolves this summer.

After a 10th-place finish in the Premier League this season, Bruno Lage and co will be eager to move up the table next term, and they will be looking to the transfer market to bring in new talents. They have been linked with Guedes in the past, but he has so far not been convinced by a move to Molineux.

Writing for GiveMeSport, Jones mentioned Guedes as Wolves’ dream signing, adding the Old Gold are monitoring the Portugal international’s situation.

He said: “Goncalo Guedes from Valencia has the wow factor that might help this Wolves team take off again. There is a general feeling that due to Valencia’s financial condition, he could be available at a good price this summer and Wolves are believed to have been tracking his situation.”

TIF Thoughts on Guedes…

Wolves’ link with Jorge Mendes has given the club access to some top Portuguese talents in the past, such as Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho and Rui Patricio. If Lage could sway Guedes, who Jones described as ‘mesmeric’, into moving to England, he could be a top talent for Wolves.

At Valencia this term, he enjoyed a positive campaign, scoring 13 goals and providing six assists in all competitions. He has previously been on the books of Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica, which is a testament to his ability, while he has featured 29 times for his country.

With Guedes valued at £36m, it is unclear how much Wolves would have to pay to sign him, but as Jones says, Valencia’s financial troubles give the English club a strong bargaining position. If they could get a deal over the line, the 25-year-old could be a crucial player in the years to come.
