Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and what happened to Liverpool's youngest ever XI two years on

Liverpool's FA Cup fourth round replay against Shrewsbury Town in 2020 might not be a game that floats fresh in the memory, but it was a match never be forgotten by those who played in it.

After the Reds could only manage a 2-2 draw at the New Meadow, fixture congestion meant the replay had to be played nine days later, during the new Premier League mid-season break.

Despite having the extra cup match to fulfil, Jurgen Klopp drew criticism after sending all of his first team stars on holiday regardless and fielding what was the youngest ever Liverpool starting XI. Under 23s manager Neil Critchley was put in charge of the team.

With an average age of just 19, the young Reds won the match 1-0 thanks to an own goal, courtesy of Ro-Shaun Williams, who headed a Neco Williams cross past his own 'keeper and into the Kop end net.

A lot has changed since then, so the Echo has taken a look at where that starting XI is now.

After impressing with the opportunities presented to him, 23-year-old Cork-born Kelleher has now risen to be Liverpool's established second-choice goalkeeper, playing understudy to Alisson Becker. Kelleher has appeared in all of the Reds' League Cup matches this season and was the hero in a quarter-final penalty shoot-out against Leicester City at Anfield.

The Liverpool-born left back did not appear in another first team game for the club and was loaned out to Amiens in French Ligue 2 the following season. He returned in January 2021 and then went on loan to Plymouth Argyle for the rest of the season. He is currently on loan to Livingston in the Scottish Premier League.
