Harry Maguire's 'stance' on Manchester United exit and more transfer rumours

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire wants to stay at the club and fight for his place in Erik ten Hag's first team, according to reports.

The England international has been widely linked with departing Old Trafford this summer, with the likes of Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham both rumoured to hold an interest in signing the player. Maguire made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Reds this season but struggled to hold down a regular starting spot with Bruno Fernandes often tasked with taking on the captain's armband.

That has led to questions over his future at Old Trafford, with United being linked with several centre-backs in recent days who would no doubt add even more competition for places in the starting XI. The likes of Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae and Monaco's Axel Disasi are reportedly being lined up by United, although it remains to be seen how concrete the club's interest is in either player.

Now, talkSPORT reports that Maguire wants to stay at United, claiming he is "not keen on departing the club this summer despite being ostracised from the starting XI". The report adds that Maguire "is reluctant to give up his position at Old Trafford just yet" - and that United's plans to bring in a new centre-back in the summer window could be impacted by Maguire's decision.

Should Maguire remain at the club, it appears unlikely United would follow through on their reported interest in Min-Jae or Disasi, who both appear set for big-money moves this summer.
