Harry Kane tipped to follow Mauricio Pochettino to Man Utd in 'boost' for Antonio Conte

Former Premier League captain Troy Deeney believes Tottenham striker Harry Kane will join Mauricio Pochettino at Manchester United next season.

Pochettino is expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the campaign and is the frontrunner to succeed interim manager Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford.

Kane, 28, was tipped to join United's local rivals Manchester City throughout last summer, yet the reigning Premier League champions failed to agree on a fee with Tottenham.

City manager Pep Guardiola was left to regret his club's failure to sign the England captain on Saturday evening, as he scored twice at the Etihad to give Spurs a remarkable 3-2 win.

Kane confirmed his desire to stay at Tottenham last autumn to work under Antonio Conte, although many believe the striker will again try to force a move in the summer.

Rumours suggest Pochettino will attempt to sign Kane - who he worked with at Spurs between 2014 and 2019 - if he gets the United job.

Deeney expects that to happen, although he believes the sale of Kane will be a positive as it will allow Conte to rebuild his Tottenham squad using the funds raised.

"For what it’s worth, here’s what I think will happen: Mauricio Pochettino will leave Paris Saint-Germain and go to Manchester United, as will Harry Kane," wrote Deeney in The Sun.

"Zinedine Zidane will go to PSG, along with Paul Pogba. Kylian Mbappe will go to Real Madrid.

"And then, it will be up to Antonio Conte to rebuild Tottenham wisely using money from Kane’s sale."

Although Deeney believes Pochettino will be the next United manager, Arsenal legend Paul Merson had urged the Red Devils not to appoint the former Spurs boss.
