Harlee Dean gives verdict on Sheffield Wednesday’s play-off chances

Harlee Dean joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan at the end of January from Birmingham City. 

Since then, after missing a number of games through injury, Dean has made six appearances and registered one assist for the club.

Sheffield Wednesday are having a good season and currently sit fifth in the league and on a six match unbeaten run.

With five games left to play this season, Wednesday have a great chance of finishing in the play-offs this season and when asked if the club will have fallen short if they don’t make the top six, Harlee Dean told Yorkshire Live: “One hundred percent. I am not going to hide anything. This squad is far too good not to be in there.

“It will be an underachievement and we will all have to accept that if it happens but I don’t think it will.”

The Owls faced Bolton at the weekend and came away feeling frustrated when they conceded an equaliser in the 90th minute.

This weekend they travel to MK Dons who currently occupy an automatic promotion spot so it will not be an easy game. However, Dean is remaining calm as he said: “We are in the play-offs at the minute but we have got to take it game by game and pick points up.

“There are going to be bumps and things along the way.

“We have got to concentrate game by game, week by week of improving and getting better in training.”

The Verdict:

It’s hard to disagree with Dean on this one.

Wednesday have done brilliantly this season and they should be making the play-offs given the rest of their season.

Of course, the draw with Bolton at the weekend was frustrating and Wednesday will have to ensure they are coming away with as many possible points, despite having some tough games coming up.
