'Happiest man ever!' - Ricardo Santos sets Bolton Wanderers goal target and League One prediction

Ricardo Santos admits that even his partner is now asking him before every Bolton Wanderers game when his goal draught will come to an end as he eyes breaking his duck before the end of the season.

The Wanderers skipper has played 87 times for Bolton since joining the club in the summer of 2020.

Yet incredibly, despite his size, build and aerial abilities, he is yet to score a goal for Bolton, despite having had several chances to do so.

At previous club Barnet, Santos scored six times in 90 games for the Bees and he admits it is a source of irritation that he has not yet scored for Wanderers.

It has has even now got to the point that his partner has started asking before every game if he will score and that his team mates regularly pose that question too.

But he is hoping that will change sooner rather than later ahead of the visit of Plymouth Argyle today and that Wanderers have to take each game as it comes in their bid to reach the play-offs, which they sit seven points off with nine games of their season left to go.

But if does not happen this season, Santos is confident Wanderers will be right up there in the following campaign, especially with how well the January transfer signings have clicked at Bolton.

He said: "It wasn’t really at the start because even last year we were winning games, so I wasn’t really bothered.

"I would rather keep a clean sheet. But now the boys are throwing little digs and stuff. Even the missus as well, before every game she asks if I’m going to score.

"It is bugging me a bit but I am trying. I probably should work on it a bit more and eventually it will come. You never know,
