Hamilton to produce Apple documentary about himself

It has been confirmed a new Lewis Hamilton documentary is in the works for Apple TV+, which he will co-produce.

Hamilton has established himself as statistically the most successful driver of all time in Formula 1.

While he shares the record of most World Championships with Michael Schumacher, both drivers having seven, Hamilton holds other key records such as most grand prix wins and most pole positions in Formula 1 history.

It is not yet clear how this new documentary will look, but it has been confirmed Apple TV+ will be the platform for it.

The documentary will be produced by Hamilton, his sports and media talent manager Penni Thow, Box to Box Films and One Community.

Box to Box Films are well known in the Formula 1 community as producer of Netflix series ‘Drive to Survive’.

Richard Plepler will be executive producer, alongside Scott Budnick, while Matt Kay will be the director.

The documentary will have “full access to Hamilton and his team on and off the track” and is set to feature an “all-star cast of guest interviews”.

A statement from Apple read: “Hamilton has blazed an uncharted trail professionally, socially and culturally, and transformed the sport on a global scale.

“Coming from a working-class family, Lewis succeeded in a sport where the odds were stacked against him but where his talent shone through, allowing him to dominate the sport for over a decade.

“Hamilton is currently the only black driver to race in the Formula 1 series. He embraced what made him different and his rise to the top of his career has made him fiercely committed to using his platform to influence positive change for future generations.”
